Comments

This first type, planned with fine splines, was modified in extremis when Brussels decided to use wide splines. As production had already begun - and deadlines were, let's not forget, very tight to produce billions of coins - everything that had been made with fine flutes was destroyed, deformed (which explains the marks on the coin) and sent to the smelter. A few handfuls of coins were recovered from the purchaser of the metal batch to be melted, and this is all that remains of the "10 cent France premier type". The SUP denomination corresponds to heavily deformed coins and the SPL denomination corresponds to the least deformed coins.
