Comments

The Royal Australian Mint is producing a series of NCLT 50 cent coins to commemorate the Battles of the Western Front that Australian soldiers took a major part in during WW1. They are released on a coin card.

Australia Post also released a PNC containing the coin limited to 7000 Copies

500 of them were released in a special overprinted cover at the Sydney ANDA 2018 Money Expo.

This 2018 coin relates to the action on 8th August 1918 by Australian & Canadian troops who spearheaded the allied counter-offensive from positions east of Villers-Brettonneux and gained over 24 kilometres of German occupied territory. Allied fighters captured 29,144 prisoners, 338 field guns and liberated 116 villages in a single day of fighting. Amiens was a significant allied victory that marked the beginning of the end of fighting on the Western Front.
