The Macedonian city of Stobi was located at the confluence of the Axius and Erigon rivers, three kilometers southeast of Gradsko. Its coinage began under the Flavians (from 69 CE) and ended under the Severans (until 235 CE).

Caracalla (April 4, 188 - April 8, 217), born Lucius Septimius Bassianus and later called Marcus Aurelius Severus Antoninus Augustus, reigned from 211 to 217. He was the author of a famous edict bearing his name, which extended Roman citizenship to all inhabitants of the Empire.
