Russian and Swedish accounts of the battle in the Aland Islands vary considerably. Undisputed is that four Swedish frigates were taken by the Russians after having been run aground. Swedish forces claim to have destroyed 41 Russian galleys thus ending Russian domination in the Baltic. Everyone seems to have been a victor.
