Comments

Designed and issued by Salem Numismatic Society; 6,000 struck in Silver-plate and 9,000 in Gilt Bronze total for both varieties. Sponsor did not authorize striking of any sterling Silver pieces but later "heard from other sources that about 25 were struck".

Two varieties occur, the first (prior to die polishing) showing smoke coming from the buildings on the left of the obverse (TC-16911), the second shows no smoke coming from the buildings (TC-16912).

Obverse (OREGON 100th Anniversary) dies were worked extensively. Die polishing occurred to smooth out some of the multiple die clashes that can still be seen. One of the results of this was the removal of the "smoke" from the chimneys on the left side of the obverse.
