بسم الله – ضرب هذا الدينار بملطه سنة إثنين وسبعين وأربعمئة

Al-’imām al-mustanṣir bi-llāh - ’amīr al-mu’minīn
Bi-smi llāh -ḍuriba hādhā d-dīnār bi-māliṭā sanat ithnayn wa-sab‘īn wa-’arba‘umi’a

Translation:
The Imām al-Mustanṣir bi-llāh - Prince of the believers
In the name of Allāh- this dinarwas struck in Malta in the year two and seventy and four hundred (AH472 / AD 1079-80)

ُهَوالـَّـِذيأَْرَسَلَرُسولـَهُبـِالـُْهدَىَوِديِناْلَحِقِّليُظـْهـَِرهَُعلـَىالِدّيِنكـُلـِِّهَولـَوكـَِرهَالـُْمـْشـِركـُوَن

Unabridged legend:
Lā ’ilāha ’illa llāh - muḥammad rasūl allāh
Huwa lladhī ’arsala rasūlahu bil-hudā wa-dīni l-ḥaqqi li-yuẓhirahu ‘alā d-dīni kullihi wa-law kariha l-mushrikūn.

Translation:
There is no god but Allāh - Muhammad is the messenger of Allāh.
It is He who hath sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth, to proclaim it over all religion, even though the pagans may detest (it)
