The standard weight of this coin was 516 grains.

In 1861 the reverse of the gold 20 dollars coin was redesigned by Anthony C. Paquet, but it was withdrawn soon after its release. The letters in the inscriptions on the Paquet reverse variety are taller than on the regular reverse.
