Comments

All tetradrachms of Mostis have a regnal date marked – ΕΤΟYΣ and a respective date in Greek numerals under Athena’s throne from year 13 [IГ] to year 38 [ΛH]. In nine cases an additional legend ΕΠΙ ΣΑΔΑΛΟΥ also appears above ΕΤΟYΣ. This signature occurred in years 13-14 and 38, and again in years 35 and 36 in the erroneous form: ΕΠΙ ΣΑΔΛΑΟΥ. Monograms of magistrates appear on all tetradrachms struck after regnal year 22 [КB].

Dates below are following Schönert-Geiss with Year 1 ≈ 125/124 BC, there is newer dating by Paunov in his conference paper “The Coinage of the Thracian King Mostis: Recent Finds, Chronology, Distribution and Localisation” with Year 1 ≈ 139/138 BC.
