Reverse

The design takes inspiration from the Japanese art of origami, with some of the figures depicted looking like folded paper. It features four swimmers in a pool divided into swimming lanes, each followed by a Koi Carp fish symbolising the perseverance required in the tough journey to become an elite athlete. At the starting positions, five origami carp. The stylised half‑border below left is a geometric pattern also representing folded origami.

In the fifth lane, the official logo of the Australian Olympic Committee (a kangaroo and emu, between them the seven-pointed Federation Star of Australia, below them the five interlocked Olympic circles). Below that, a rectangular cartouche enclosing the Japanese language characters 東京 (in Kanji: Tokyo).

Representing the spirit of the Olympic Games, the Australian Olympic Team 1kg silver coin celebrates the individual experiences and achievements of each Australian Olympian. The design features four athletes in the water, in the Olympic swimming discipline. It is one of the oldest Olympic sports and has always been represented since the beginning of the tradition of the Olympic Games.

The Olympic Games of the XXXII Olympiad were scheduled for 2020 in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, but were postponed to 23rd of July - 8th of August 2021.
