Mercè Rodoreda i Gurguí (10 October 1908 – 13 April 1983) was a Spanish novelist, who wrote in Catalan. She is considered the most influential contemporary Catalan language writer, as evidenced by the references of other authors to her work and the international repercussion, with translations into more than thirty languages.
