These notes were issued from August 1777, with a backprint on the Danish P#A29a, from 1775. Issued under the ordinance of 11th of May, 1775, about the use of Danish Courant banknotes in the Danish Vest Indies.
It was here decided that 100 Rigsdaler Danish Courant should equal 125 Rigsdaler West Indies Courant.
When the Dansih West Indies notes had circulated for for around 7 years, they were so worn down they got exchanged for new types and the worn out notes were then sent to Copenhagen to be burned. It was done so the total value of banknotes on the islands never exceeded 200 000 Rigsdaler.
Due to this very meticulous exchange of notes, the notes from before 1849 are vary rare.
For all notes in this series the decorative pattern to the left on the obverse exist in 3 different designs, the so called Wium types I, II and III. For this note, the difference lies in how the decorations and letter intertwine.
