ISEG is one of the colleges of the University of Lisbon. It stems from the Higher Course of Commerce integrated in the Industrial and Commercial Institute of Lisbon since 1884, and can therefore be considered the oldest higher school of economics in Portugal. This circumstance is particularly relevant, as it reflects the change from the corporate and traditional model of teaching commerce to the modern school model, its history is intertwined with the country's own economic and social history.
