20 years after its launch, the Monnaie de Paris is celebrating the euro's second anniversary with a collection of gold and silver coins. To mark the occasion, and for the first time in Europe, the national face of the €1 and €2 coins is getting a facelift, and from 2022 will feature a new design by Joaquin Jiménez, engraver of the "Tree of Life" previously present on both denominations.

This commemorative coin celebrates the 20th anniversary of the euro, as well as the 20th anniversary of the withdrawal of the French franc from circulation. This double tribute is symbolized by the presence of an olive branch in the hollow of the "2", a natural and numismatic symbol that has accompanied 1 franc coins since the monetary reform of the Fifth Republic.

The "O" is represented by a €2 coin, split in two between Joaquin Jiménez's original 1999 design and the new national face, which will be put into circulation in January 2022. The opposition of the two designs allows us to observe the evolution of the engraver's tree of life, in a more contemporary form.

20 ans après sa mise en circulation, la Monnaie de Paris célèbre le second volet de l’anniversaire de l’euro avec une collection de monnaies en or et en argent. En cette occasion et pour la première fois en Europe , la face nationale des monnaies de 1€ et 2€ fait peau neuve et arborera dès 2022 un nouveau dessin de Joaquin Jiménez, graveur de « l’Arbre de vie » présent jusqu’alors sur les deux coupures.

Cette monnaie commémorative célèbre le 20ème anniversaire de l’euro ainsi que les 20 ans du retrait de la circulation du franc français. Ce double hommage est symbolisé par la présence d’un rameau d’olivier au creux du « 2 », symbole naturel et numismatique accompagne les monnaies de 1 franc depuis la réforme monétaire de la Vème République.

Le « O » est lui représenté sous les traits d’une pièce de 2€, scindée en deux entre le dessin original de Joaquin Jiménez datant de 1999 et la nouvelle face nationale mise en circulation en janvier 2022. L’opposition des deux dessins permet d’observer l’évolution de l’arbre de vie du graveur, dans une forme plus contemporaine.

Existe en Belle Epreuve uniquement en coffret limité à 2022 exemplaires.
