Médaille instituée par arrêté du gouverneur général de Madagascar et Dépendances, le 17 septembre 1920, afin de récompenser les travailleurs indigènes comptant un certain nombre d'années de bons et loyaux services dans la même entreprise, la même exploitation ou dans la même famille.

La médaille de 2^e classe ( médaille de bronze ) était accordée après dix années de services accomplis dans la même entreprise, exploitation ou famille européenne ; quinze années étant exigées lorsqu'il s'agissait d'employeurs indigènes.
