Comments

Krause lists a proof version for all denominations except the 1 Yuan piece, yet he lists a reeded-edge pattern for it. 
It is said that the Heaton Mint in England produced pattern pieces in 1897, then shipped the dies to the Nanking Mint. When production began, the original dies were used, with the only change being the addition of a security edge. 
While the plain edge coin (KM#Pn2) is a pattern, the reeded-edge coin (KM#Pn1) is likely a proof like all others of different denominations.
