Head of Nero, laureate, right, with beard.
Script: Latin
Lettering: NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS
Unabridged legend: Nero Caesar Augustus.
Translation: Nero, Caesar and emperor.
Nero, radiate, togate, standing left, holding patera and long sceptre: beside him on right stands Empress, holding patera and cornucopiae.
Script: Latin
Lettering: AVGVSTVS AVGVSTA
Unabridged legend: Augustus, Augusta.
Translation: Emperor and empress.
There is no difference between RIC 45 and RIC 57, except that RIC 57 was struck later (RIC describes RIC 57 as a ‘continuation’ of RIC 45). They are in the same progression as RIC 44 and RIC 56, where the obverse of RIC 56 is a die match with the later VESTA type (RIC 61), and so (according to the hypothesis proposed in RIC) RIC 56 and RIC 57 must have been struck later than RIC 44 and RIC 45. This is also true of RIC 50 and RIC 58.
