Comments

Series/serial #s explanation:

Serial numbers are composed by prefix, one letter or one letter and 1 digit; last 6 digits are the serial number itself, but there is no gap between prefix and serial number.

Therefore you can see the examples below “B953116”; “B” is the prefix and “953116”is the serial; and  see “J5109449”, then "J5" is the prefix and “109449” is the serial.

This was caused for this note was issued from 1964 to 1982; 6 digits means 999,999 notes (# 000000) is reserved for specimens); when all prefix A to Z were used, they added 1 number after the letter: A1,B1, etc.,  and when completed Z1, followed with A2, B2, etc.

Later, after all letter/number combinations were used, the started with 2 digits, but to avoid confusion, they put digits before letter, like 11A, 12B, etc.. This is the case of note N# 205344 Photo (P# 164), where serial numbers were printed with black ink, and N# 222919 Photo (P#164A), where serial numbers again were printed with red ink.
