Plain
Previously known as issues from an uncertain principality in Eastern Sogdiana, these types were recently identified to have been from the Principality of Fiknan, centered around the Oases of Gallaaral & Jizzakh, in the middle/lower Sangzar River region.
An alternative reading of the reverse legend suggests: “x’ttwnh MR’Y pykn’n”, translated as “Coin of the ruler Nana-Khatun”. Yet another reading suggests the legend “Mistress [and] ruler of Fiknan”.
The letters of the legend are turned with their tops to the center of the coin. Due to the abundance of type III compared to Fiknan's other types, Atakhojaev and Naymark hypothesize this type was made over a long period of time.
