The Carnac coat of arms is blazoned as follows: Azure, a sewn bend Gules sown with leaded megaliths Or, accompanied in chief by a sun of the same and in base by a ship Gules dressed and flamed ermine. The shield is stamped with an azure count's crown charged with ten gold bezants, supporting a baldachin and resting on a gules anchor with a gold scroll charged with a sable motto affixed in base.
The creation of a coat of arms for the commune was decided by the municipal council on June 23, 1973 and entrusted to heraldist Loïc Ermoy. The azure refers to the sea and the shield represents the famous Carnac megaliths.
The motto recalls the various elements of the coat of arms that make up the commune's identity: "Trema er mor, dré er vein, edan en heol" (Towards the sea, through the stones, under the sun). The crown is that of the Counts of Largouët; the baldachin is that of the porch of St Cornély church.
