Date of issue: 30 SEP 1999

On October 1,1949 the formation of the People's Republic of China has been proclaimed in Peking from the tribune above the Tyananmeny Gate in the presence of 300000 inhabitants of the capital. On the next day, on October 2,1949, Moscow was the first who had declared the recognition of the PRC and the readiness to establish diplomatic relations.
